I examine how reshaping monuments transforms their meaning, emphasizing inclusion and our collective role in shaping society.
This project draws from the iconic monuments of Miami’s largest Hispanic immigrant communities—Cuba, Haiti, Colombia, Jamaica, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. It consists of ten monument models, each constructed through a careful reimagining of combined pedestal forms. By stacking, inverting, and restructuring these elements, I create vertical compositions that challenge conventional hierarchy.
Each piece is 3D-printed, painted white, and then intervened with graphite. While traditional pedestals elevate monuments—separating them from their surroundings—here, they symbolize integration. These forms rebuild foundational values while fostering unity, their geometric harmony demonstrating how individual elements align toward shared aspirations without division.
Created to inspire, these new monuments celebrate alliances and dialogue between communities, underscoring the idea that we are stronger together.
