Milton was significantly affected by the first war in Iraq and this painting is the result of his reaction to the war. There is a personal reference to his own birthday at 52 in the title. However, the title represents the American Bomber B-52, used in the war. The bomber is represented in the painting in the hats of the musicians on either side of the singer, whose microphone has turned into a dead birth.
