State of Fear / Art of War
May 7 – June 28, 2015
The themes of war and destruction are not new to Luis Cruz Azaceta. His previous exhibition at Pan American Art Projects, titled Shifting States, was his reaction to the conflicts that arose from the “Arab Spring.” His new series of works, State of Fear, deals with a similar situation occurring in the Middle East. According to the artist:
“State of Fear is a response to the current conditions in the Middle East. These works address the chaos, fragmentation, displacement and death and their impact on the West”.
The Art of War was a compendium of works by contemporary artists who have addressed this war and conflict in their works. Paraphrasing the title of the famous book of strategy by Sun Tzu – we brought together pieces by artists who illustrated the theme of war and its consequences.
