Pablo Soria: Nocturnal

Pablo Soria’s new series marks a turning point in the artist’s career. Parting with the mixed media technique of photography and painting; he turns his attention to the play of light and the pensiveness of long exposure photography, while still exploring the persistence of memory and the longing of time which have always resided deep within his works.

The sincere dialogue between the artist and the landscape, along with the uninhibited application of light to the photographed structures invite the viewer to contemplate the scene before them. They are transported as if in a time capsule to a moment of stillness in which only they exist, in which time stands still and the image is forever engrained within them.

Pablo Soria was born in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. He currently lives and works in Miami.

Rusty Scruby’s show comes at an exceptionally challenging time in his career. The artist was recently the victim of a mass robbery in which seventeen of his works were taken. This exhibition is his response to a situation that kept unfolding in mysterious ways, coming to a bitter end at an unlikely place – a thrift store.

Through his work Rusty explores his past, recreating a warped reality of it in the present. His intricate photographic constructions present colliding parallel universes, in which the viewer forms an affinity with the ambiguity of a strangely familiar world. The artist will thus present images of the recent events alongside images of his childhood, establishing a visual narrative of how the simple patterns of everyday life can change unexpectedly.

Rusty Scruby was born in Oregon City, Oregon. He currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
